When you tell your friends and family that you are using cloth
diapers on your baby, most people will look at you like you are a little
bit crazy. The helpful ones will say something like, "You know, they
have this new invention called disposable diapers. They have them at
Walmart. Have you seen them?"
Yes, you know about disposable diapers, but you choose cloth. Why? We
started using cloth diapers initially to save money. When we were
expecting our first child, we were overwhelmed with the cost of all the
"essential" baby accessories that we had to buy. The thought of spending
an additional $15 per week on disposable diapers and wipes seemed
insane. Cloth diapers are much less expensive to use. Cloth diapers are a
more healthy choice for the baby and are safer for the environment.
These were also factors in our decision. We chose cloth.
