1. How did you come up with the name for your shop?
a. It was so hard to name my shop. I knew I treasured my products and customers, but Tera's Treasures was sounding odd to me. Then I thought well, my name means Earth, most of my products are Earth friendly, and Gaia is an Earth Goddess, so I went with Gaia's Treasures.
2. How long have you been making/selling cloth diapers?
a. I have been making cloth diapers for three years. I love making them and I am thrilled to offer a high quality product that is just as nice for parents as it is for the child.
3. How long have you been sewing?
a. I started sewing with my grandmother when I was 6 yr old. She had an old treadle Singer that I loved to mess with when we visited. So she sat me down during a long summer visit and taught me hand sewing and how to use the treadle, with her help of course. She passed when I was 8 , but my love of sewing continued. I created tons of Barbie doll clothes. Most memorable was my White Wedding gowns based off of the Billy Idol song" White Wedding" . And yes, I shaved my sisters' Barbies heads and colored their mohawks. My mom loved MTV.
4. What is your favorite thing to make right now?Why?
a. I really enjoy every style of diaper I make. I did get an embroidery machine for Christmas and I must say, my son is getting lots of fun diapers lately;).
5. What inspires the things you make?
a. The majority of items I make are requested by clients. So I will say it's my customers who inspire me to grow and stretch my skills and imagination to make a true treasure for them.
6. Why did you choose cloth diapers and what advice do you give to those considering using them?
a. I wanted to CD when my oldest son was born, but at the time I was a new nurse and working as many shifts as I could to get hours. I stayed in the nursing field til my 3rd son was born. Then I became a SAHM. So when we found out we were having a 4th son, I decided to try CD. I ordered a few here n there. Started making my own. I disposal diapered my first three, and I will have to say I do LESS laundry because cloth diapers contain better than any brand of disposable diapers I tried. I am a convert and I hope I get to have at least one more baby so I can keep cd'ing. <== total addict!
7. What made you decide to sell on Etsy and join the Etsy Cloth Diaper Team?
a. My friends and family have told me for years I should sell my items. I finally got up the gump and set up a store on Etsy. I chose the Etsy CLoth Diaper team because of the great members, awesome organization, and great reputation it has. I want my customers to feel secure and happy with their choices in diapering.
8. What have you enjoyed most about your Etsy shop?
a. I love the featured and the improved search capabilities. Layout is nice and easy to set up customs listings and payment. The new gift certs and direct checkout are great additions as well.
