Graham Crackers

Quick and Easy "Graham" Crackers

This recipe may not produce your average graham crackers but they are a fun and healthy alternative.  The graham crackers are fun to make with your toddler because the dough is easy to use with cookie cutters and there is no need to place dough in the refrigerator!

*Thicker crackers are great as teething biscuits just don't use whole wheat flour - substitute for all purpose or unbleached.

Homemade "Graham" Crackers

1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup unbleached flour (or all purpose)
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 cup margarine or butter (cold)
1/2 cup brown sugar (or honey)
Few Tbsp. milk

Preheat oven to 400.

Combine flours, baking powder and sugar. Cut in butter a few Tbsp at a time until crumbles form. Add milk a Tbsp at a time until dough forms a nice ball. If the ball is too stiff add a little more milk, if it is too wet add a little unbleached flour.

Roll out on to a floured surface to about 1/4" to 1/2" thickness.  Cut with a pizza cutter into squares or use floured cookie cutters.  Prick cut crackers with a fork and brush with a little milk (optional).

Bake at 400 on a cookie sheet covered in aluminum foil or (preferred) parchment paper for 12 to 18 mins or until firm looking.

Place on cooling rack and enjoy!

  1. I am totally going to try these! Graham crackers are a bedtime snack around here, I'd love to know exactly what is going in their mouths when they eat them!
