This is a fun and easy craft to do with the kids. It really turns out nice. I found this on the family fun website. If you have not checked this site out I encourage you to do so. It has some great craft ideas.
Materials : A variation on the age-old nature necklace, these wire-wrapped pendants are fun for kids to trade. Some girls paint their names on one side and their best friend's on the other, and wear them as a proclamation of their unbreakable bond.
- A small rock
- Colored wire (we used 22-gauge)-I found this at walmart
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Needle-nose pliers
- Colored leather cord- I used ribbon
Time Needed: 1 Hour (Only takes about 5-10 minutes)
Instructions:
1. Place the rock at the center of a 15-inch-long piece of wire and wrap the wire around the rock a few times to secure it.
2. Twist together the ends, then wrap the twist around a pencil to form a loop. Use pliers to close the loop, then cut off any excess wire.
3. To finish, thread a necklace-length piece of leather cord through the loop and knot the ends.
