Meet The Team: MyHeartImpressions

Today's Meet The Team interview is with Shallon B of MyHeartImpressions

How did you come up with the name for your shop? I changed my shop name after a need to continue with my shop. I named it My Heart Impressions in memory of my stillborn son this past June. My logo is a 3D heart with baby foot prints on it. I carved this out of sand at the beach this past summer and took a picture, modified it a bit and came up with what I believe is an amazing banner/logo.

How long have you been making/selling cloth diapers? I've been making cloth diapers for just over 2 years now and have been selling them for almost 2 years. It'll be 2 years this coming March.

How long have you been sewing? I first learned to sew with a machine 25 years ago. There have been times in my life when sewing simply wasn't possible on a regular basis, but I have always had the passion and supplies handy just in case time allowed. For the past 5 years, I've been fortunate enough to be a SAHM and have been able to sew almost daily.

What is your favorite thing to make right now? Why? Currently, I am addicted to making fitted cloth diapers and childrens' clothing. I like the simplicity of fitteds and the pattern I use is amazing. For the kids clothing, I love creating pieces that you can't find everywhere you turn.

Favorite materials to use? Knits, knits, knits. LOL, If it's a knit, I love it. Cotton interlock is especially wonderful.

Why did you choose cloth diapers and what advice do you give to those considering using them? I've been a mom for 11 yrs and had always been looking for a more ecofriendly option. I had no clue until a few years ago that there were options beyond Gerber prefolds and rubber pants. Once I became a sahm, I was on a mission to find a better way to cloth. This opened up a whole new world for me. There are two main points I try to get across when someone is considering cloth. First of all, you definitely get what you pay for, so as well as looking for a great deal, do some research into feedback and customer service. Second, I always tell potential cloth parents, get a few different shapes and styles and see what you like the best. There is nothing better than a well fitting cloth diaper.

What made you decide to sell on Etsy and join the Etsy Cloth Diaper Team? I decided to sell on Etsy due to the security available with payments and the sheer volume of potential customers. I mean, we are all here to try and make an income of some sort. I chose to join the Etsy Cloth Diaper Team so I can share my knowledge of cloth diapers and sewing in general when possible, as well as learn something new anytime to opportunity arises.

Where can we find your items? Do you have a Facebook page?
